Turkey hails Afghanistan-Pakistan truce agreement
In a statement, the Turkish Foreign Ministry praised Islamabad and Kabul for establishing mechanisms aimed at promoting stability and peace between the neighboring countries. “Türkiye will continue to support the efforts for achieving lasting peace and stability between the two brotherly countries and in the region,” the ministry said. It also commended Qatar for hosting and facilitating the discussions.
Earlier on Sunday, both Pakistan and Afghanistan confirmed that they had agreed to an immediate ceasefire. Tensions along the border had risen following Pakistani airstrikes in Afghanistan’s Paktika province late Friday, which Kabul reported resulted in civilian casualties, as officials from both nations were attending the Doha talks.
