US suspends all immigration processing for Afghan nationals
The suspension was issued shortly after the holiday-eve shooting involving two Guard members in the US capital. As accounts indicated, President Donald Trump addressed the incident by claiming that the suspect had entered the country from Afghanistan in 2021 during former President Joe Biden’s administration. He vowed "to ensure that the animal who perpetrated this atrocity pays the steepest possible price."
Reports citing law-enforcement sources identified the suspect as Rahmanullah Lakanwal, a 29-year-old Afghan national who has been detained.
Trump also argued that the current administration "must now reexamine every single alien" who arrived from Afghanistan during Biden’s term. He further stated, "We must take all necessary measures to ensure the removal of any alien from any country who does not belong here or add benefit to our country."
