Pakistan Says Afghan Drones Intercepted in Multiple Areas

(MENAFN) The Pakistani armed forces reported on Saturday that several basic Afghan drones were brought down in three different parts of the country, resulting in at least four injuries, among them two minors.

According to a statement from Inter-Services Public Relations, the media division of the Pakistan Army, the "Afghan Taliban" deployed several primitive drones on Friday “to harass the people of Pakistan.” The statement added that security forces neutralized the drones using both soft-kill and hard-kill tactics before they could hit their designated objectives.

The military noted that the two wounded children were located in the southwestern city of Quetta in Balochistan province. Another civilian sustained injuries in Kohat district in the northwestern province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, while one more person was hurt in the garrison town of Rawalpindi, which lies next to the national capital, Islamabad.

“These attacks were aimed at inducing fear among the public and remind us of the terrorist mindset that drives the Afghan Taliban. On one hand, the Afghan Taliban project victimhood to garner global sympathy, while on the other hand they actively target civilians through their terrorist proxies and drones,” the military said.

Authorities in Islamabad cautioned that the “Ghazab-lil-Haq” operation will persist until the Afghan Taliban resolve Pakistan’s primary security concerns.

So far, officials in Kabul have not issued any response to the Pakistani announcement.

The statement followed remarks from the Afghan Defense Ministry on Friday claiming it had responded to Pakistani airstrikes by striking “strategic military centers and facilities” belonging to the Pakistani army in the Kohat region of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
